Watercolour and pen and ink drawing on paper, View of Pontefract by Anthony Devis (Preston 1729 – Albury House, Surrey 1816). A sepia watercolour of a rural winding road, flanked by trees, the towers of Pontefract in the distance. A peasant woman with basket on her head and a man on a pack horse with a dog on road. Card mount, grey wash borders; glazed in an oak frame.

Lady Labouchere collection. Bought by Lady Labouchere from Walker's Galleries Ltd, between 1956-1966, the time period when the majority of her watercolour collection was purchased.
