Watercolour, pen and watercolour on paper, The Old Bridge, Shrewsbury by James Malton (1761 – Marylebone 1803). Large pen drawn watercolour of the Old Bridge, Shrewsbury, looking up at castlated tollgate and timber framed houses. Fishing boats on the river, peasant women and children on the riverbank. Card mount, grey wash border; glazed in giltwood frame.
Provenance
Lady Labouchere collection. Bought by Lady Labouchere from Agnew's, a Mr Plummer brought the watercolour to Lady Labouchere whilst in a nursing home, early 1960.
