Caption
Made in Truro 1765, this clock maybe of an earlier design as London had more up to date fasionable designs. The dial hands are made of steel and then "blued" for protection against rust. The pendulum can be seen through a porthole in the case, this was considered a status symbol.
Summary
Eight day oak longcase clock made by Richard Wills. Silver chapter ring surrounded by some gold filigree type work depicting two sea creatures. Spandrels show similar gold filigree work, possibly depicting cherubs. The hood is loose and the catch on the door has been damaged. The decorative knob from the top of the case is missing.
