Summary
Composite stone figure on a vermiculated stone base of a man holding a long stick. Probably an allegory of Winter. Signed I L Donohue, New Road, London. This figure forms a set of four with NT 808943 and NT 808944. They were originally purchased by John Fowler and his next door neighbours at Wilks Water Cottage, Sir Michael and Lady Rachel Redgrave. John Fowler placed the two male figures in the garden of the Hunting Lodge, while the Redgraves placed the two female figures in their garden at Wilks Water. Nicky Haslam purchased the two female statues to bring the entire set together in the Hunting Lodge's garden.
Provenance
Purchased by John Fowler for the garden at The Hunting Lodge, Odiham. Transferred in 1979 to the National Trust with The Hunting Lodge, Odiham under the will of John Fowler.
