Summary
A rare Charles II stumpwork picture in coloured silks and silver threads, the centre with a tree with a pool at the base. A female figure on either side, a chateau and other conventional motifs, flowers, birds and animals. Inscription reads, 'If that they anchor on heaven fixed bee no snake can hurt they fruitfull cherry tree.' Black wooden frame with an inner gold border. On back 'From Countess of Mount Edgcumbe'.
