Summary
Acrylic and oil painting on canvas, View of Priest's House and Tower, Sissinghurst by Cherryl Fountain (b.1950), signed C.A. Fountain on a garden trug, 1987. This detailed view of the red and yellow garden at Sissinghurst was painted over a period of six weeks - with the attendant problems of the changing vegetation and the suspension of work at weekends when visitors proliferated. In the background, covered by the abundant blooms of Mme Alfred Carriere, is the cottage where Sir Harold Nicholson worked. The figure weeding the garden in the foregruond is Sarah Cook.
