Summary
Oil painting on panel, Donor's Wife and Three Daughters, manner of Pieter Jansz. Pourbus the Elder (Gouda 1523 - Bruges 1584), 19th century. Full-length portraits of a woman kneeling in a church interior holding a prayer-book open in front of her and a double rosary, her eldest daughter, also in black and holding a rosary, to the right of her, with two much smaller daughters, one in grey, the other in red, also holding rosaries, to the right of her; the three last all have their hands folded in prayer

Accepted by HM Treasury in lieu of inheritance tax and transferred to the National Trust under the terms of the will of Mrs Christopher Hussey (1907-2006)
