Summary

An ebony and ivory parquetry casket, probably Anglo-Indian, circa 1700. The raised hinged top containing a secure compartment lined with marble paper, the interior of the casket only shallow as a side panel can be removed to reveal a secret drawer, all lined with marble paper, iron handle to top, iron hasp and escutcheon to front, standing on bracket feet.

Provenance

Part of the Hussey collection. The contents were bequeathed to the National Trust in 2006 by Mrs. Elizabeth Hussey.
