Marks and inscriptions
Verso: A piece of fabric pinned to the crossbeam on the reverse is labelled 'Carl Bauerle 7?/?'. Verso: The reverse of the canvas is stamped 'Prepared by Charles Roberson? 99, Long Acre London' and is also marked with chalk writing, largely illegible but at one point '1/3 all' and possibly 'not lent'.
