Summary
Carved oak press cupboard, mid-17th century, decorated in a manner associated with the Leeds area of south-west Yorkshire; upper section with a recessed central panel between a pair of carved herms carrying fruit, flanked by cupboard doors; the central panel and door panels inlaid with flowering plants in bog oak and chestnut; the framing with parquetry banding; the side posts carved with nulling; the frieze of the canopy with lunettes and a pair of cup-and-cover pendants; lower section with two cupboard doors on H hinges below a carved acanthus frieze; each door with a long horizontal panel carved with lunettes, over two tall plain panels, the framing channelled; wooden knobs to all doors.
