One of a pair of breech-loading “Howdah” pistols retailed by R.S.Garden, 29 Piccadilly, London – Army accoutrement makers 1852-88. Round side-by-side barrels construction with an upper-rib, engraved R.S.GARDEN, 29 PICCADILLY, LONDON, together with the serial No. 2329. Blade fore-sight. The barrels tip-down for loading. Barrel length 20cm. Calibre 15mm center-fire cartridge. Steel standing breech constructed with a short under-lever barrel release which partly encompasses the trigger guard. Steel trigger guard and double curving triggers. Chequered walnut grip and a short detachable forestock. The fore-stock secured by 1 barrel slide. The pommel with an iron lanyard ring. Right and left hand back action hammer locks, foliate engraved overall and signed R.S.Garden. The locks retained to the stock by 2 sidenails. Overall length: 36cm
