Summary

Door catch mechanism. Modesty lock. Brass latch on the door and a heavy bolt sitting in a tubular holder attached to frame. It would have had a cord from the top of the bolt to the wall near the bed - pull the cord, the bolt rises and releases the latch.

Provenance

Peckover House with its fixtures and fittings was bequeathed to the National Trust in 1948 by Alexandrina Peckover (1860-1948)
