Summary
Pastel on paper, Robert Child (1739-82), his wife Sarah (c.1740-1793) and their Daughter Sarah Anne (1764-93) (after Daniel Gardner) by Margaret Battine. Three full-length portraits, he is wearing a red coat and holding a tricorn hat, standing by his horse and holding his daughter's hand, his wife is wearing a yellow dress with a blue cloak and their daughter a white dress, a dog standing at their feet, with pillars and a landscape beyond. The original painting descended in the family of Mrs Child's half sister, Miss Jodrell, until sold by Mr Stacey Clitheroe, Boston Manor on 5th July 1922.
