Summary
Pastel on paper, Sarah Jodrell, Lady Ducie, formerly Mrs Robert Child (c.1740-93) and her Daughter Sarah Anne Child, later Countess of Westmorland (1764-93) by Daniel Gardner (Kendal 1750 – London 1805), 1791/93. Two full-length portraits of mother and daughter, the former seated, wearing a pink dress with a black hat and cloak and holding an embroidery frame, the latter standing, in a white dress, with feathers in her hair and holding a book, with pillars and a landscape beyond. Frame: English, third quarter of the 18th century Neoclassical frame. Sarah Jodrell married Robert Child in 1763. Following his death in 1782 she married Francis, 3rd Baron Ducie, in 1791.

In the Breakfast Room in 1926 and 1939 Inventory and valued at £300; recorded at Osterley Park in 1915; on loan from the Earldom of Jersey Trust.
