Summary
Medal cabinet. An ormolu mounted inlaid marquetry fall front medal cabinet of secretaire form, in the neo-classical manner, attributed to John Linnell and George Haupt, circa 1775; of upright form, the top inlaid at the centre with a flower patera with crossbanding with re-entrant corners, and with an ormolu spindle gallery; the front below with scrolled brackets in each corner supporting inlaid swags of pendant husks looped through the square purple heart banding, and joined at centre by a circular medallion inset with an ivory cameo depicting a Roman emperor.
Provenance
Recorded as being in the 'Front Drawing Room' in the 1868 inventory of the contents of 38 Berkeley Square; and thence by descent.
