Summary
One of a pair, Chest on stand, lacquered in green and gold on black; brass mounts. . The front, ends and lid of this chest are decorated with watery landscapes, trees, rocks buildings and boats. Each is framed with a repeating ornament with sprigs. The keyhole escutcheon has a central oval engraved with fishes swimming among weeds and this is flanked by a pair of rampant carp. The back plates of the handles are of similar form. The stands have a shallow serpentine apron below a moulding, japanned black. The cabriole legs, square in section, terminate in spatulate feet.
