Summary
Mahogany, pine and oak bedstead. The carved and piered cornice boards of the tester are covered with contemporary 'decca' needlework. The frame of the tester with later, c1885 iron runners for the curtains. The interior of the tester upholstered in 19thc [c1885] deep green and cream moire striped silk. The foot post of carved and turned mahogany, concealed in the base wooden castors. The bolt holes in the plinth are covered by swivelling stamped brass paterae. The foot post plain oak supports. The three valences are of Decca work. The three valences and the fixed covers for the cornice boards are the only remains of the early bed hangings. The construction of the tester not seen
