Summary
Commode, carved, japanned and gilded wood, inset with panels of Oriental lacquer in gold on black. The commode has a semi-circular form and is supported on six gilded legs, standing on square block feet. The gilded stiles are in the form of pilasters with bell-flowers. They are surmounted, in the frieze, by ran's heads garlanded with husks and have stylised acanthus leaves at the base. All the front, sides and top surfaces are veneered with panels of Oriental lacquer, depicting landscapes, some with figures on hosrseback. The large central, bowed panel opens as a door. Above it in the frieze is a drawer.
