Summary
One of a set of eight carved and gilded wood arm-chairs, entitled 'Petite fille portant des fruits' - girl carrying fruit. Upholstered in Gobelins tapestry decorated with a series of designs by Boucher of 'Les Enfants Jardinieres', the flowers on the seats after Jacques and Tessier. Oval back moulded with guilloche, beads and trailing husks, with a central anthemion motif. Two carved back supports rise from an oval seat-rail also carved and drop-in seat. Arm rests carved with acanthus motifs, padded with floral upholstery and upheld by curving supports with trailing husk motif on the front, rising from the sides of the seat-rail, underneath. Carved and straight, round tapered legs terminate in a lotus foot. They project slightly above the seat-rail with a circular patera.
