Summary
one of four pier glasses, rectangular, frame of carved and gilded pine. The frame consists of an inner and outer moulding between which is a border of mirror glass. The inner moulding has a bead decoration, the outer part consists of a cavetto moulding surrounded by an egg-and-dart moulding. The glass border whithin has applied decoration in carved wood of anthemion and scrolling foliage. An elaborate cresting of acanthus scrolls. The decoration below the lower edge of the glass is composed of similar scrolls, centring on an inverted anthemion. A string of husks hangs halfway down each side from the top corners. The bands at the top cross over two one way, and two the other.
