Summary
Print, mezzotint, Mary Panton, Duchess of Ancaster and Kesteven (d.1793) (after Thomas Hudson) by James McArdell (Dublin c.1729 – London 1765). Full-length portrait standing in front of a rocky landscape, a manor house can be seen in the background. The Lady is dressed in an elaborate 18th century outfit and is holding two Ostrich feathers in her right hand. Curiously, the reserved panel that would carry the name of the sitter is blank. Is this print an artist's proof?
