Oil painting on canvas, Santa Maria della Salute and the Dogana, Venice by a follower of Francesco Guardi (Venice 1712 – Venice 1793), 19th century. View across the Grand Canal to an island on the right of which stands a domed building, the cathedral of San Maria. In the foreground, gondolas carrying passengers, to the left some sail boats. This painting is a 19th-century imitation of a recurrent composition in Francesco Guardi's work. It shows under a wide blue sky, the Punta della Dogana in Venice with the basilica Santa Maria della Salute on the right while in the foreground the mouth of the Grand Canal is dotted with elongated boats known as gondolas.
