Summary
Chimneypiece, The Study, Mottisfont Abbey. Carrara Marble with white and black panels of polished fossil stone. Plain moulded with fluted pilasters. Frieze stops each decorated with scagliola insets of Grecian urns. The central panel is decorated with an inlaid scagliola oak leaf garland and ribbons. Hearth stone in three pieces.
Provenance
Purchased by Gilbert and Maud Russell from Pratt & Son for the Study, Mottisfont Abbey in June 1935. Transferred to the National Trust in 1957 from Mrs Russell under the Memorandum of Wishes.
