The First Interview of Werther & Charlotte, after William Henry Bunbury (1750-1811), engraved and published by John Raphael Smith (1751-1812), London, 1782. The image illustrates a scene from Johann Wolfgang von Goethe's novel, The Sorrows of Young Werther (1782). This is the second state of the print where the original image has been cut down into an oval.
