Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Monk's House Garden and St Peter's Church, Rodmell, by Duncan Grant (Rothiemurchas 1885 - Aldermaston 1978), signed and dated 1923. This view of the garden at Monk's House in Sussex was painted by Grant when he was staying at the property one summer with the artist Vanessa Bell, the sister of Virginia Woolf. He gave the painting to Leonard and Virginia Woolf, who had bought the house in 1919.

Given by the artist to Leonard and Virginia Woolf; given to Mrs Trekkie Parsons; purchased by the National Trust at Sotheby's, 13 December 2007, lot 24.
