Summary
Large square tile topped table supported on square chamfered legs. The top made up of 36 lead glazed earthenware tiles painted by Duncan Grant in 1930. The central circular panel (50 cm dia) depicting Venus at her toilet with a half-naked attendant playing a lute. Painted in blues, greens, yellow ochre and white. Framed by a narrow circle of magenta dots. The border made up of a sponged blue square enclosing a solid yellow band with green circles at each corner, this being joined to the central circle with magenta wave pattern. Signed DG and dated 1930. The base made by Callenborn (see R Shone catalogue D Grant Designer - Feb-April 1980)
