Summary
Oil painting on canvas, A Summer Evening at Cliveden by Sir Alfred James Munnings, RA (Medham 1878 – Dedham 1959), signed bottom right. Waldorf Astor, 2nd Viscount Astor (1879-1952) seated on stick with his trainer, Mr William Guy, wearing breeches, white border terrier, pekinese and third dog at centre of mares led by stable lads and with their foals. In large open grass field bordered by trees. The horses are named (Mare and Foal; L to R): Light Sentence and Probation, Flash Point and On Fire, Quick Rise and Niblick, Point Duty and Road Patrol, Instantaneous and Hasty Shot.
