Summary
Print, Rudyard Kipling (1865-1936) after Sir Philip Edward Burne-Jones (London 1861 – 1926). A facsimile of the print of Kipling in his study at the Elms, Rottingdean. The showcase caption reads - "Kipling in his study at the Elms, Rottingdean, where he lived with his family for five years. John was born there. His portrait by Philip Burne-Jones is in the National Portrait Gallery". Author and poet; son of John Lockwood Kipling (1837-1911) and Alice Macdonald; married Caroline Starr Balestier (1862-1939). They had three children: (i) Josephine Kipling (1892-1899) (ii) Elsie Kipling, Mrs George Bambridge (1896 – 1976) (iii) John Kipling (1897- killed in action 1915)
