Author and poet; son of John Lockwood Kipling (1837-1911) and Alice Macdonald; married Caroline Starr Balestier (1862-1939). They had three children: (i) Josephine Kipling (1892-1899) (ii) Elsie Kipling, Mrs George Bambridge (1896 – 1976) (iii) John Kipling (1897- killed in action 1915)
