Summary
A M.ori ‘toki .newa’ or chisel from 19th century New Zealand. In 1891, Kipling travelled to South Africa, Australia and New Zealand, where he likely acquired this M.ori stone chisel. The original label states the axe was found by Mr Shorrocks on a farm in Dhaupo, Wkikalo, New Zealand.
