Summary
The small leather strap with buckle holding together a pile of off cuts of material and spare buttons for a series of clothing, wrapped in a brown paper 'Collard's Ltd' bag. The strap is well worn brown leather and would have been a child's belt or form of collar. There are eight original punched holes evenly parted with additional holes punched at various intervals after this. The buckle end has a silver coloured square shaped frame and single prong, the bar is part of the frame and there is some rusting. The strap is attached around the buckle frame and is sewn with a light tan cotton stitch, this also holds in place a fixed belt loop. The strap is smooth on the outer side and has a suede inner finish.
Provenance
Straw collection bequeathed to the National Trust on the death in 1990 of William Straw.
