Summary
1920s Beige nylon/rayon dropped waist sailor style lady's top, navy stripe decorative detail to neck and cuffs (matching pleated skirt and waistcoat). The main body of the top is cream with navy detailing. the V neck is edged with three navy lines running from the proper left around the neck and terminating at the front proper right, over reaching the start, finishing in points. The ends are embellished with three diamond buttons on each line, nine in total, with a 'mother of pearl' sheen. The cuffs are finished with the same navy three line detailing of the neck line. Each band over stretches the cuff and terminates in a point with a single decorative diamond button on each, three in total, matching again that of the neck. Both cuffs are the same. A belt sits low on the waist line and is sewn in at seven points on the garment, one each side, one at the back and four at the front. Two of these are just to either side of the decorative painted 'mother of pearl' belt buckle. The buckle is made of two oblong pieces with a square hook and eye clasp, the geometrical pattern to the front is in silver, black and red. Inside the collar is a shop label 'Emiles 11, PARK STREET, WORKSOP.' the label is white cotton with a biscuit brown embroidered writing.
