Mr Straw's House, Nottinghamshire

Summary

Seventeen metal buttons covered in white cotton attached to their original packaging which has been cut down to size. The card has a light blue front with a grid marked in black to hold each button. Along one edge is printed; 'MADE IN 14 LINES ENGLAND'. The buttons are sewn onto the card with cotton thread and an extra layer of paper stuck to the back to cover the stitches and requiring the buttons to be cut off. Kept in the base, 740792.1.1, of a sewing box 740792.1

Provenance

Straw collection bequeathed to the National Trust on the death in 1990 of William Straw.
