Summary
Crayon manner engraving in sanguine ink on laid paper pasted on linen. The Belvedere Antinous, late 18th century. One of a set of five prints after Classical sculptures. After a Roman marble copy, 2nd century, of a bronze original by Praxiteles or one of his school, 4th century BC, in the Vatican's Museo Pio-Clementino, Rome. Formerly believed to represent Antinous, the sculpture has more recently been identified as a representation of Hermes. Artist/Engraver unknown.
