Summary
Crayon manner engraving on paper, A Landscape with a Mill and two Anglers, published by John Harris the elder (London 1767 - London 1832) after George Morland (London 1763 – London 1804), 1 September 1794. A wooded landscape with a stream and a mill with a waterwheel to the right, a punt on the bank, and two anglers; one standing, one sitting. An engraved inscription below image reads 'London, Published as the Act Directs. September 1st, 1794 by J. Harris No 28 Gerrard Street Soho', the artists's signature reproduced lower left of image 'G. Morland.'
Provenance
Bequeathed to the National Trust along with Stourhead House, its grounds, and the rest of the contents by Sir Henry Hugh Arthur Hoare, 6th Bt (1865 – 1947) in 1946.
