Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Sir William Henry Lyttelton, 1st Lord Lyttelton, Baron Frankley (1724-1808) by Samuel Woodforde, RA (Ansford 1763 - Ferrara 1817),1801. A three-quarter length portrait to left, in Parliamentary Baron's robes, his right hand resting on the spine of a book upright on a table on top of documents with simulated writing. The sitter was the father of Hester (d. 1785) who married Richard Colt Hoare, 2nd Bt and George Fulke Lyttelton (1763 - 1828)
Provenance
Acquired by Richard Colt Hoare 2nd Bt (1758 – 1838) and thence by descent. Given to the National Trust along with the house, its grounds, and the rest of contents by Sir Henry Hugh Arthur Hoare, 6th Bt (1865 – 1947) in 1946.
