Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Sir Henry Ainslie Hoare, 5th Bt (1824-1894) and his Sister Georgiana Hoare (d. 1905) as Children by Eden Upton Eddis (1812 – Shalford 1901), circa 1835. The boy is seated at the right on a bank beside a tree. He is wearing a brown jacket and white trousers, his right arm round his small sister who stands beside him. She is dressed in white and holds up her apron full of flowers. A house and lake can be seen in the distance on the right.
Provenance
By inheritance to teh sitter's cousin; given to the National Trust along with the house, its grounds, and the rest of contents by Sir Henry Hugh Arthur Hoare, 6th Bt (1865 – 1947) in 1946.
