Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Parnassus, flanked by the Figures of Strength and Temperance (after Raphael) by Samuel Woodforde, RA (Ansford 1763 - Ferrara 1817), signed. After one of the two main lunettes in the Stanza dell Segnatura in the Vatican by Raphael and from the two flanking personifications in one of the two lesser ones, painted in 1510-11 and 1514 respectively. It is set in a lunette in the library and shows Apollo and the Muses (centre), Fortitude (left) and Temperance (right).

Given to the National Trust along with the house, its grounds, and the rest of the contents by Sir Henry Hugh Arthur Hoare, 6th Bt (1865 – 1947) in 1946
