Summary
Portrait miniature, watercolour painting on ivory, Mrs Bennett, attributed to Penelope Carwardine (Withington, Herts c.1730 – London 1800). c.1775-1779. Oval. Head and shoulders portrait of a woman, turned slightly to the right, gazing at the spectator, wearing a blue fur-trimmed coat over a yellow dress and blue jewel. Blue eyes, fair hair brushed closely upwards and dressed with a lace veil and pearls, very pale (faded) complexion, slightly bruised, sloping shoulders. Plain grey background, lit from to left.
