Portrait miniature, watercolour painting on ivory, Probably Henry Merrick Hoare (1770-1856) by Henry Edridge, RA (Paddington 1769 – London 1821). c.1792. Oval. Half-length portrait of a young man, turned to the left, gazing over his left shoulder at the spectator wearing a chestnut-coloured velvet coat with high collar and voluminous white bow tie. Dark brown eyes heavily shaded under eyebrows, thick powdered hair in queue, pale face strongly shaded under nose and lower lip, aged about 22. Cloudy sky. Background darker to right.
