Summary
A parquetry inlaid kingwood and ormolu mounted work table, French, circa 1840. The serpentine shaped top opening to reveal a fitted interior with compartments and a mirror panel to the inside lid. The shaped frieze above a sliding work basket and raised on cabriole legs, the lock and hinges engraved with floral designs.
Provenance
Given to the National Trust along with Stourhead House, its grounds, and the rest of the contents by Sir Henry Hugh Arthur Hoare, 6th Bt (1865 – 1947) in 1946.
