Summary
Oil painting on board, 'Chagford Mill': a River with Stepping Stones and Ducks by Henry John Yeend King (London 1855 – London 1924), circa 1901, signed: YEEND KING, lower left. A view of the stepping stones across the River Teign at Chagford, Devon, looking upstream. Four ducks or geese dabble in the water and on the bank in the left foreground. Behind them, a post leads the eye towards the stepping stones which occupy the middleground. The roofline of a large building rises up in the background behind some bushes at the right of the scene. A bank of trees is outlined against the sky from right to left where more buildings can be seen in the distance.
