Summary
Watercolour on paper, East View of Bruton Abbey, Wiltshire by Samuel Hieronymus Grimm (Burgdorf 1733 – London 1794). Bruton Abbey, which was near Stourhead, no longer exists. Signed and dated: S.H.Grimm fecit, 1786. Only the dovecote, which was given to the Trust in 1915, remains today. Frame to watercolour. Rectangular water gilded frame with cavetto outside edge, ovolo sight edge, four flower paterae to each mitre joint and pearl beading on inner edge.
