Summary
Pastel on paper, Probably Mary Hoare, Mrs Henry Hoare (1744-1820) by William Hoare of Bath, RA (Eye 1707 – Bath 1792). An oval half-length portrait of a lady, probably the daughter of the artist who married Henry Hoare of Beckenham in 1765, turned to the left, gazing to the left with right hand to face. wearing a pink dress, with a gauze veil over her head.
Provenance
Possibly bequeathed by artist's son, Prince Hoare (1755 - 1834); given to the National Trust along with the house, its grounds, and the rest of the contents by Sir Henry Hugh Arthur Hoare, 6th Bt (1865 – 1947) in 1946
