Summary
Pastel on paper, Frances Ann Acland, Lady Hoare (1735/6-1800), by Francis Cotes, RA (London 1726 – London 1770). A half-length portrait of the second wife of Sir Richard Hoare, 1st Bt whom she married in 1761, turned slightly to the right, gazing agt the spectator, sitting at a spinning-wheel and wearing a blue silk dress.

Brought from Wavendon by Sir Henry Hugh Arthur Hoare 6th Bt (1865 - 1947) and Alda Weston, Lady Hoare (d.1947) in 1897; given to the National Trust along with the house, its grounds, and the rest of the contents by Sir Henry Hugh Arthur Hoare, 6th Bt (1865 – 1947) in 1946
