Summary
Figure, hard paste biscuit porcelain, Ganymede and the Eagle, probably Locré & Russinger's Factory (active 1772 -1820), Paris, France, 1785 - 1795. From a Classical mythology series. Ganymede is modelled standing, feeding the eagle at his feet. Unmarked. A similar figure in the Hermitage Museum from the Cheremeteff (Cheremetiev) family is incised NID and was attributed to Niderville, see N. I. Biriukova, 'Figurines et groupes en porcelaine des manufactures francaises du XVIIIe siecle', Leningrad, 1962, p. 300, 105, 20 cm. and fig. 111. Other examples are in the Halwylska Musset, Stockholm, XLVII: IV, JbaO8, and Wye House, Maryland.

Listed in the ‘Inventory of Heirlooms at Stourhead directed to be taken by the Will of the late Sir Richard Colt Hoare Bart.’, 1838, in the China Cupboard, as one of ‘Seventeen small ornamental French China Figures.’ Bequeathed by Sir Henry Hugh Arthur Hoare, 6th Bt (1865 – 1947), 1946.
