Summary
Jar, from a pair of covered jars, tin-glazed earthenware, possibly Albertus Kiel, De Witte Ster, Delft, Netherlands, circa 1761-1772. Of baluster shape with underglaze blue decoration after 17th century Chinese models of a female figure in a landscape within trellis pattern borders. Monogrammed 'AK' in underglaze blue.
Provenance
Listed in the 'Inventory of Furniture, Bedding, Carpets, China, Plate, Pictures, Curios, and other effects on the premises of the mansion,' January 1908, in the Billiard Room, as ‘The pair of 13 in Delph jars.' Bequeathed by Sir Henry Hugh Arthur Hoare, 6th Bt (1865 – 1947), 1946.
