Summary
An oak tester bed, English, circa 1640. With a pair of foliate-carved bulbous posts headed with Ionic capitals supporting the tester which has eight panels arranged around a central panel with ebonised boss, all framed with geometrical leaf patterns, the cornice carved with lunettes, the headboard with a pair of panels carved with thistles, below scrolling foliage and leaf patterns and above four plain panels, the bed has a boxspring, is hung with floral drapes on chip-carved octagonal rails and stands on wheels, some alteration.

Previously on loan from Lt.Col.Geoffrey Walter Fownes Luttrell 1975. Gifted to the National Trust 1981.
