Summary
An oak chest, West Country, circa 1650. The hinged plank lid above a triple-panel front profusely-carved with repeating geometric leaf pattern and lunettes, the central panel depicting a highly stylised flower, flanked by rosette-filled interlocking chain and four-prong motif, on stile feet, interior till present, the sides twin-panelled. The geometric repeating pattern and the four prong motif are characteristic of West Country carving.
