Summary
Table clock. 8 day table clock with ebonised case and verge escapement by Samuel Mortlock, Clapham. mid18th century. Break arch dial with silvered chapter ring and strike/silent dial in the arch. Rack striking on a single bell. Chapter ring with Roman hour numerals, Arabic 5 minute numerals and a single circle minute track. Dial has the name “Samuel Mortlock, Clapham” engraved onto a curved cartouche fixed to the bottom half of the matted centre, small square calendar aperture, rococo spandrels, blued pierced steel hands. Backplate engraved with scrolls and flowers. Ebonised case with bell top, 4 pineapple finials, fretwork in door top corners, fretwork sound frets to each side, brass carrying handle, stepped base standing on flat feet
